Happy Scenic Sunday!

Until the other day, I hadn’t realized that I am now in what they call “Midlife-crisis” state. I constantly think about my age, the upcoming round birthday. I am easily agitated if I can’t find the right clothes to wear. Hell, aside form my uniform, i don’t even know what I should wear if the need to go out of the houses arises. Should I go for mature Women’s attire which is probably more appropriate for my age or should i go for sneakers and tight sexy tops to try and gain the effect of looking younger? I have questions bugging me like:
1. If somebody would describe me passing by, would they say an older woman of about 45-50 passed by? Or would they say, a lady, say in her mid twenties to early thirties walked by?
2. Do I have wrinkles showing on my face?
3. Do I still walk with the quick hop attitude of a young person or do I slowly and cautiously walk like an elderly?
4. Do I still look sexy and fresh?
5. Or do I rather look old and tired and sickly?
6. Should I perhaps start using facial and hand creams that says “Anti-Aging” on them or stick to my good old trusted brand cream?
7. Should I start asking my Gynecologist about hormone pills?
Silly things, yes to some, but I’m sure a lot of Women go through this stage. Thank goodness, my body temperature is not making me crazy yet. This means at least that I am not yet going through menopausal stage… i think, but hhmmmmm… :straight: 🙄
With a sizzling 30 degrees temperature, we had a wonderful day at Disneyland Paris last week. Our entourage left in two cars at 06:30 and arrive Paris at around 10:00 after two stopovers. We were lucky there was no traffic jams along the way. We had a smooth drive from Brussels all the way to France.
Tickets were booked in advance so, we could just go through the entrance without staying in the very long cue for tickets. Once inside, we all scattered like a herd sheep running for the greener part of the meadow. Not before we arranged a time and place to meet later. First stop Fantasy Island, where Trish got freaked out by the dolls in the “Small World” ride. I loved it though! Later during the afternoon, Trish started feeling unwell. Had to rest for a while to give her medicine. Later though, the patient claimed she got sick for like six minutes only, hehehe. Once she started sweating, we just continued where we stopped to rest. We roamed around the area until almost midnight. Then we drove to the hotel where we would be spending the night. All in all, it was a really fun sunny day in Disneyland.
Hello everyone… here’s my LP challenge weekly entry:
It’s the end part of the cable car that my friends and I took in San Francisco June last year. I caught it just when it was turned around getting prepared for the next batch of tourists… yep, our group!
Happy weekend to all!
It arrived this morning exactly as hubby texted me. Of course, the UPS guy rang the bell just at the exact moment when I was sitting on my throne! I had to hurry down to sign the receipt stinking… eeeeewwwwww!
But who cares?! I’m not gonna be seeing that guy again anytime soon anyway…. unless hubby gets hooked up in ordering stuff online all the time! hehehe.
And of course, typical me… I couldn’t keep my hands of it.
I still have 20 minutes left, then I should be out of the door. Have to be at work by 14:15 today. Last day in my four day schedule and then off two days, yeeepeyyy! So, I thought I could still hang around online for a bit. I was bloghopping when I found these cheesy Tagalog pick up lines from Halo-Halong Pinoy:
You’re so hot you must be the reason for global warming.
Sorry miss but I have to arrest you. you’re guilty for stealing my heart.
Excuse me! I’m lost, can you tell me how can i get into your heart?
I’ll give you a scholarship. Just learn to love me.
You’re like an oxygen, coz I can’t breathe without you.
Am I in heaven? Coz you’re an angel…
Can i take your picture? coz i want to show Santa exactly what i want for christmas!
Do you have a driver license coz you drive me crazy!
Did it hurt when u fell from heaven?
I’m a bee, can you be my honey?
Hey, did you fart? coz you blew me away!
If i’m a letter of the alphabet, I want to be letter T coz its always beside U!
Are you a False Teeth? coz I can’t smile without you!
Excuse me, Are you a dictionary? Coz you give meaning to my life…
Are you a keyboard? coz you’re my type.
If you’re a shit? I wanna be a malfunctioned toilet bowl, so we can be together forever.
Are you an electric fan? coz you keep on spinning on my mind.
I’m looking for my wife, will you marry me?
Was your Father a mechanic? Then how did you get such a finely tuned body?
Great legs, what time do they open?
If you hold 11 roses in front of a mirror, you would see 12 of the most beautiful things in the world.
Text message from hubby (who is currently out of the country):
“Hello my love, I ordered a new high performance PC for you in the HP webshop. It should arrive in 2 days.”
(Me thinking: “Huh???, what do I need it for? I have my already a Netbook, my old Laptop and we still have three extra laptops at home on top.”)
🙄
My reply:
“Yeheyyy, thank you ML. I’m excited already…”
I do believe that one should just trust one’s partner. He/She knows for sure what he is doing. If he/she thinks I need a new one then I’m happy for the gift. But, perhaps I need a camera instead? Preferably one of the two that I really, really want to have at the moment? :straight:
August. Half of 2011 is gone. Where did it go? It seems like just yesterday I was still rejoicing for the new year… planning on a lot of new beginnings that came with 2011. Okay, I must admit the year did not go so bad, so far!
Slowly integrated myself into the new company that I joined. Learned their terms and ways… how the system works, etc. I still mistakes, hey, I’m just human… but overall I do believe that I am doing well there.
I could also start and finish the projects that I planned. At least most of it has been accomplished. There are still some loose ends that needs to be finalized, but basically I’m still on schedule. I’m being vague here I know, but I can’t really discuss it here openly.
Met new friends, kept old ones, some though I had to let go… but it’s probably for the better. After all, one can only please oneself. I do believe a person cannot serve two masters at the same time. I do cherish the lessons I learned from those people who I came in contact with but had to let go. I appreciate the good and the bad things that came with the so-called “friendship” that was offered.
On another light, my point and shoot camera died on me just last month. I thought I could still get it fixed, but when I saw the receipt of the cam, I noticed that the guarantee expired last year. Plus, as I bought it when it was on sale, I can imagine that the repair costs would probably be almost the same as buying a new point and shoot camera. So I decided to get a new one instead. But this time, I must insist I do want a more high-tech one. So, that’s another project for me. So far, I have my heart set on two cams. The thing is I want to use the camera not just as a camera but also as a video recorder/camcorder. Like hitting two birds with one stone, right?
So I checked out online what other options I have. A LOT!!! I found like tons of them, hehehe. But I have my heart set on these two:
The thing is, both items costs three times my budget, ha ha ha! Tja, Anyway, I still have like till the end of November to decide and save. I am considering this project as a birthday and Christmas gift for myself. I guess, that should be fair enough, he he he.
By end of July, another niece, Trish arrived via CO 50 from New York-Newark. Since I couldn’t time off immediately, Duday and Trish had to stay for awhile longer here in Germany. They went out with hubby to Palmengarten, Saalburg before I finally drove with them to Brussels. On the way, we stopped by in Köln to see the Kölner Dom.
The night before we would be driving to Brussels, I got home really late from work. The minute I walked into the main door, Trish was already out from the other room to tell me she couldn’t sleep. So I slowly put my stuff down, I told her I would get her a glass of milk to help her sleep. I told her we should not be too noisy since we didn’t want to wake ate Duds up… to which sh e replied: “Oh, she’s awake, too”.
Hahaha, both girls couldn’t sleep being too excited for the drive the following morning.
My niece Trish, is with us again this summer. Trish is the daughter of my elder brother who currently resides in the US. She came to visit us for the first time summer of last year. Since she has no sibs of her own, (my two younger sisters living in Belgium also have one child each a Son and a Daughter respectively), we thought it would be nice if Trish could come and visit us during summer…if possible.
So, for the second consecutive summer in a row, Trish crossed the Atlantic Ocean to be with us. Her experience this time flying as Unaccompanied Minor was not as exciting as the first one. It was difficult in the plane because she didn’t have her own tv monitor behind the seat in front of hers. The airline didn’t have sufficient entertainment for kids her age. She said she just slept thru the flight.
When I came to pick her up at the airport, we almost missed each other cause the agent who escorted her looked to me like she was not quiet sure of what she was doing. Proof of that, she even forgot to hand to me the passport of my niece. With some other airlines, a child is given a pouch where all their documentations are placed upon check in. Passport, ticket, receipts and boarding passes/travel itinerary goes into the said pouch. Once the child boards the aircraft, said pouch is handed over to the Purser/Flight crew for safe keeping. Upon arrival at the destination, said pouch is handed over to the ground staff who will then assist the child to get through customs, baggage pick up and eventually turn the child over to the custody of the Parent/Guardian at the final destination. Said pouch is then either hanging on the child’s neck or if its just an envelope, handed over to the parent presenting identifications.
In our case, although the ground crew worked with us beyond the baggage check area, she didn’t hand over the said documents. I assumed that my niece had her stuff with her in a pouch stuck somewhere in one of her bags (she had three with her). Only when I was preparing her stuff to leave for Brussels, did I notice that her passport and other documents where missing.
The advantage of working at the airport is that one has somehow an idea of how the procedure works. If something goes wrong, it wouldn’t be such a hassle to correct it. Or so I thought. The soonest I was back at work, I immediately went to the airline to complain about the missing passport/documents. At that time, there was a Lufthansa agent talking to the flight manager of the airline. The flight manager told the Lufthansa agent to call Lufthansa Lost and Found services. Then the agent passed the phone over to me saying she didn’t understand the whole story. I should explain it myself to the person at the other end of the line. The said person then gave me another number to call. She said, it was the agency that does Unaccompanied Minors services for Continental airlines. After putting the phone down, I called the number immediately. I could talk to the person who still has the passport of my niece. Problem was, I work most of the time at Terminal 1 and their office was in Terminal 2. On that day that I called them, I couldn’t go to their office in immediately. I told the lady that I would be picking up the passport during my break-time later in the afternoon. She said I should call her first before I come over. By the time I could go on break, nobody was picking up the phone in their office anymore. That was a Friday. Saturday and Sunday I couldn’t reach anyone.
Another problem was, the airline counter was only manned/open during check-in times which was only until around 12:30 noon. Strange as it is, when I tried to call a listed number at the counter for services outside the check-in times, no one picks up the phone. I always got an automated voice message. When I could finally reach someone from a different number and the guy said he didn’t have any passport returned/surrendered to him. And that they don’t do any services for the airline that my niece came in with. I was slowly panicking. I couldn’t find the lady whom I talked to previously anymore. I went to lost and found to check, in case they surrendered the passport there. After several minutes of checking in the system, the lady at the lost and found office said she didn’t have a passport in my niece’s name registered. The only option for me was to wait until Monday and try to call the Passenger service agency again. It was really close since, we were supposed to go to Brussels Tuesday morning. If I needed to get the passport back before then. As a result, I left for work Monday morning two hours earlier just to be on the safe side. I got to the airport in plenty of time. But when I called the lady again who I got to talk to in the very beginning, she said that she was on break and would still need an hour to get back to her office. WTF! I was slowly boiling in annoyance. I said I didn’t care if she was in Hell on break, I needed the passport before 1:00 pm that day. I then implied that their agent who is responsible to hand the passport to me was not doing her job properly and now to have to wait for her to finish her break time is out of the question. She then obliged but of course without any “apologies” that she would call someone in their office to come down and give me back the passport. She gave me instructions to go to the information counter in Terminal 2 and call a different number again from there. Somebody would then come down and bring the passport to me. Then she said, “let’s say in half an hour”. I said in ten minutes and that I could wait no longer than that. I went there and called them again. There was a lady who came down, not the same one who assisted my niece unfortunately. When I asked her to wait until I could check if all the docs are still inside, she was very defensive and said immediately: “I was only told to bring that down here. I don’t know what’s inside”. Yes, okay, but let me see first. But she was about ready to leave. She said, as in, word for word: “I gave you the envelope. Have a good day!” That was it. No apologies about the inconvenience nor the mistake of her colleague.
It took all effort for me to bite my tongue then. I had to keep my calm then. I didn’t want to go to work still irritated as I need to be calm when I am at work. That’s one rule for me. In the end I was just happy that I could get the passport back. But now I know, have to avoid that agency again if I can. Oh, of course, the airline as well. All the time I was going around in circles trying to get the passport back and there was no mention of the airline, except at the beginning. There was no effort on their part to help get the passport back. Imagine for someone who does not work at the airport how frustrating it would be for them to get back their missing item. Okay, one can go to the Lost and Found office… but that only works if the missing item was surrendered there. In our case it was not. So, the last time we would be using the airlines’ services is when my niece would fly back to the US end of August. She has a round trip ticket with them and we can’t change that anymore.
My niece Duds came to visit me from Brussels. After roaming around Frankfurt am Main, going shopping at Wertheim Village and biking around Altenstadt, we decided to go to Berlin whilst hubby is away on a business trip. No sense staying in Altenstadt the whole time.
For two nights and three days, we roamed around Berlin. We stayed at a hotel in Potsdamer-Platz as hubby recommended. From there, we just either walked to almost all of the must see places there. The Siegelsäule, The Museum Island, The Berlin TV Tower and the Wax Museum to name some. Although the last one had a very long line when we went there despite the heavy rain, so we decided not to stay.
It was really fun despite the heavy rain that poured on the last day we were there. Duday almost didn’t want to leave the place anymore.
I was asked to do a dance number with some boys for the birthday party of a friend. Apparently, this dance by Ms.Marian Rivera has been quiet a hit in the Philippines.
Well, I probably can. Actually I’m confident that I can, but a lot of people keep telling me that I can’t really do it… They say it does not match my image…hehehe. Who knows, we’ll all just have to wait and see. You can all come to the party to watch me, *wink* do a Marian so sexy!
This park looks empty on a very warm sunny day. Well, I was there on a weekday. People are either at work or in school. There were some old folks enjoying the park though. I like parks. I like to sit on a bench and read a book. I also enjoy observing the birds dropping by every now and then hoping for a crumb or some seeds. Or watch a family or two enjoying a nice day together. Heck, I also like to walk around whole park. I used to do that before back when I was still in Bruxelles. I used to walk through one specific park, Bois dela Cambre for some hours. But I don’t like parks when it is just overflowing with people. Anti-social am I not. I just don’t like the boisterous drinking crowd and then once they get drunk, start pestering the other park-goers. Just that.
I feel good. Not because summer fever is here, but because I just started a regime for my body. I heard from a colleague who used to weigh 80 kilos perhaps even more and after a year she has now a really perfect body. Firm stomach, no flagging arms at all and most of all, the legs and bottom are in a perfect shape. I was so envious that I thought I should do something good for my body too. The secret… ZUMBA fitness.
http://youtu.be/qsSrq3HBa7A
I searched about it at first online. It seems to be a fun way of shaping up, so I decided to give it a try. No harm there, I thought. And I was right.
See, early this year, I was scheduled for another “Fasting” week to detox my body and loose some weight as well in the process. Since I couldn’t go for a vacation last March, I had to re-schedule my Fasting week. The problem is, I am slowly gaining weight again. I actually already gained a kilo and a half during the last 8 months or so. I am gaining weight so fast. My next scheduled “Fasting” is sometime in October. Until then, I have to maintain my current weight despite all the barbecue parties that I am invited to.
So, I started with my steps. 12,000 steps a day was my original target. That’s like an hour on the stepper plus 30 minutes hula-hooping. I feel good but somehow, with the steps, I feel like it’s not enough. Until my colleague told me about ZUMBA fitness. She asked me if I heard about it already. I said “somehow, I know it was mentioned in passing during one of my talking marathon with some friends at a party. But, it didn’t really register much. That’s when she explained it all.
I ordered my videos and started immediately right after I got them. Amazing thing is, I am now maintaining my weight. Everyday I go on the scale and each time, my weight is constant! Great. Oh, I don’t need to loose weight. I just need to tone up my muscles and maintain my body weight. I will loose weight anyway when I go fasting again come October. For now, I am happy!
